BRIERDENE WILDLIFE SITE

We need your help to continue the maintenance and

improvements in your Local Wildlife Site.

You can do this by becoming a member of the Friends of Brierdene but this does not mean that you have to take part as a volunteer - unless you would like to do so.

The Friends of Brierdene started conservation work in the dene in October 2006. Our aim is to maintain and improve the biodiversity of the site for all wildlife and for everyone in the local community to enjoy.

All work undertaken by the Friends is in partnership with North Tyneside Council and conforms to the Conservation Management Plan for the site.

A considerable amount of work has been carried out by our volunteers and this has been recognised by the Green Flag (Community) Award which we have held for the last three years, only 160 awards were made in the UK.

After Survey Work and a Bio Blitz in 2014, 770 different species including some rare species that grow, fly, swim, crawl or creep have been recorded in the Brierdene.

Annual membership is only £10.00 per householdwhich helps pay the insurance for all our activities, our website, newsletters, stationary costs and replacement tools.

Your membership will help show strong community support and could make the difference in receiving an award or grant or losing it.

Become a member and be proud of the “Little Gem” on your doorstep and you will be supporting one of the best groups in the area, aiding conservation work in a very special area.
