BRIERDENE WILDLIFE SITE
We need your help to continue the maintenance and
improvements in your Local
can do this by becoming a member of the Friends of Brierdene but this does not
mean that you have to take part as a volunteer - unless you would like to do
The Friends of Brierdene started conservation work in
the dene in October 2006. Our aim is to
maintain and improve the biodiversity of the site for all wildlife and for everyone
in the local community to enjoy.
All work undertaken by the Friends is in partnership
with North Tyneside Council and conforms to the Conservation Management Plan
for the site.
A considerable amount of work has been carried out by our
volunteers and this has been recognised by
the Green Flag (Community) Award which we have held for the last three years,only 160 awards were made in the UK.
After Survey Work and a Bio Blitz in 2014, 770
different species including some rare species that grow, fly, swim, crawl or
creep have been recorded in the Brierdene.
Annual membership is
only £10.00 per householdwhich helps pay the insurance for all our activities, our website, newsletters,
stationary costs and replacement tools.
Your membership will help show strong
community support and could make the difference in receiving an award or grant
or losing it.
